Wrinkles of  Time

This project explores the themes of wrinkles, aging, cycles, and the passage of time through a multi-part visual narrative. I began by collecting and documenting wrinkles from individuals of different identity groups — night-shift workers, manual laborers, and others whose daily lives leave visible traces on their skin. These wrinkles became the foundation of my visual language, offering insight into the unspoken experiences carried by each person.

To me, wrinkles are not flaws but vessels of memory — each one telling a story, bearing witness to resilience, time, and transformation. Through layered materials and textured forms, this body of work reclaims aging as a beautiful, honorable process.

Wrinkles are scars of honor, and this project is a tribute to their quiet power.

Research Process

The project unfolded in three parts, each exploring wrinkles through a different material and visual approach. It began with a series of textile-based paintings, where I used fabric, synthetic materials, and acrylic paint to explore the visual and emotional texture of wrinkles. These works emphasized the tension between softness and permanence, layering color and material to reflect the physical traces of time.

Sculptural Installations

In the second phase, I extracted line patterns from the collected wrinkles, simplifying them into abstract outlines. These lines were then expressed through composite material studies, resulting in sculptural forms that highlight the depth and individuality of each wrinkle. Finally, I transformed the abstracted wrinkle lines into acrylic earrings, offering a more intimate, wearable interpretation of the theme — turning memory and time into something to be carried.
