THE FORGOTTEN

Fragility of Culture Strength of Memory
To me, there has always been something deeply captivating about the brilliance of traditional Chinese culture — a glow that feels both sacred and personal. But history doesn’t always protect what it inherits. During the Cultural Revolution, a decade of chaos and destruction, China suffered a cultural loss that remains impossible to measure. Countless relics were destroyed; centuries of intangible traditions were severed in silence. Ink paintings were torn and burned. Jade artifacts, once treasured heirlooms, were sold and scattered across the world. Along with them, fragments of China’s cultural identity faded into the past.
We cannot undo what’s been lost. What remains are fragments — scattered, damaged, incomplete — and the quiet responsibility of trying to reconstruct what we can. But no matter how carefully we try to restore it, something will always be missing.
This collection explores that vulnerability — of culture, memory, and inheritance. Through delicate patterns and fractured silhouettes inspired by Chinese motifs, I aim to reflect a culture once broken and now cautiously pieced back together. The garments carry a sense of fragility, but also resilience.
Bamboo, a recurring element in this series, symbolizes strength and perseverance in Chinese tradition. It represents my hope: that even in the face of loss, the spirit of our culture continues to endure — quietly, but unbreakably.

Echoing the themes of fragmentation and resilience in this collection, this jewelry line pairs jade – a stone revered in Chinese culture as a symbol of purity and virtue – with silver, known for its quiet strength and luminosity. Each piece is designed as a subtle tribute to what remains of our cultural heritage: small fragments of jade held within sculptural silver forms, reflecting the tension between what has been lost and what endures.
Mood Board

This mood board establishes the visual direction for the collection, combining references from traditional Chinese floral paintings, natural motifs like butterflies and bamboo, and contemporary imagery with muted reds and neutral tones. It explores the intersection of cultural heritage and modern aesthetics, creating a refined palette and textural inspiration.
